Assessment of vaccine mediated enhanced disease (VMED) in epidemiologic studies monitoring COVID-19 vaccines is a webinar by the Vaccine monitoring Collaboration for Europe (VAC4EU) and the Brighton Collaboration Safety Platform for Emergency Vaccines (SPEAC) Project.

Speakers provided an update on the Brighton Collaboration/SPEAC case definition of VMED [also called vaccine associated enhanced disease (VAED)] and algorithms for establishing background rates in the VAC4EU ACCESS Project. Participants were involved in discussions around how to identify cases of VMED, how to differentiate VMED from vaccine failure, and time windows for VMED monitoring.
